In Michigan, January is the month when the cold really sets in. Through December is can tend to be pretty mild, but January gets pretty darn frigid.

I have larger dogs that generally do okay in the cold, but as I am trying to be more active with them and walk them more often, I am starting to worry about how I’m going to keep them warm until Spring.

They’re definitely feeling the cold, now, because they really fight going outside in the mornings or at night to do their business.

Smaller dogs and hairless dogs have it even harder, and you may find that they come in from walks or even bathroom breaks shivering uncontrollably. So what’s to be done?

There’s no reason your dogs have to suffer! There are so many cute dog fashions out there that will keep your pups looking fresh while also keeping them warmer.

So what are your options?

Fleece Dog Coats

These warm coats are usually pretty lightweight and come in cute patterns. These are great for lounging around the house, quick potty breaks, and walks when it’s cold but not freezing.

Keep your dogs safe from freezing rain with these warm water proof coats! The cold is bad enough, but being cold and wet can actually really harm your dogs.

Dog Denim Jackets

If you live in a warmer environment this winter, you can still keep your dogs warm by adding some denim to their wardrobe! Plus, they’ll look so cute.

Hairless Dog Sweaters

Hairless dog breeds need a little extra love and care during the winter. Make sure you’re keeping them warm with layers and at least one sweater on most of the time.

Dog Boots And Shoes

Not only is the snow and ice painfully cold on doggy toes, but the salt that is used to melt ice can be toxic to them! Avoid all of those things by investing in some good waterproof shoes for them.

Dog Blankets

Just taking your dog for a ride? Do you like to keep your home cooler during the winter to save on the heating bills? Throw a blanket or two in your dog’s bed to help them stay warm, and on drives make sure you bring warm blankets for them as well.

Dog Hats

Doggy ears can become frostbitten when exposed to the cold. Avoid that problem by choosing the right hats for your dogs.

Regardless of what you choose to put on your doggo, they’ll be happier than if you made them go outside with just their natural fur!
